For the practical purposes I would prefer MetaStock or Tradestation.
The only value I can found in OmniTrader is a Game Mode, that actually can
train your eye and intuition in "finding" of the
profitable patterns.
OmniTrader will not let you create your own systems, and existing systems
are not very profitable, if you'll test them in Metastock.
If you are consider yourself "pure" TA trader try to use
Metastock/Tradestation
If you like to take fundamentals/statistics in consideration check
Telescan/Stock Wizard.
In Omnitrader you'll find some basic Portfolio/Order/Money Management
options, that can be useful for the beginner, but they still
far from the options available in the professional packages (that cost much
more than OT).

P.S. I'd appreciate to hear group members comments about their MM software
experience
