I believe what this demonstrates is a dilution of the market. When that line was
started there were only around 8000 issues, maybe less. As each new issue comes
to the market it dilutes the available capitol thus the number of advancing
issues declines. I can account for 13,000 equities now trading and there are
probably more. The increasing number of trading vehicles like options also has
served to further dilute the market. 

IMHO the immediate direction is more important than it's overall bias. 

I like the McClellan Oscillator better than the A/D line.

Thanks for sending the chart. I see what you mean. How do you account for the
downward bias in this AD line? All the averages are well above their 1987 lows
and this AD line continues to trend lower every year. What gives and how
useful can it be with such a bias?
