Re: Deflation?

RTs:

I am not an economist, but it appears to me that interest-related vehicles
have rallied upon weakness in equities.

Many commodities are at depressed levels, but even with crude where it is,
I still pay a significant % more to fill my tank.

I tend to think that the artificial "hype" of the stock market will have
ramifications that would not otherwise occur. The high level of
debt/credit, low level of savings, export of labor and enormous trade
deficit have created an untenable situation.

If and when the market crashes, the middle class will be forced to realize
that they will not become "Rockefellers" upon retirement and the illusion
of prosperity will crumble.

I live in a poor urban neighborhood, probably unlike many RTs, with many
Central American immigrants, Section 8 tenants etc. I doubt that they would
consider this a truly deflationary economy, even if their savings account
has a pitiful rate of return.

Just my two cents...
