I scan opitionable stocks over $50.00 for signals in the direction of the
overall market. That could be narrowed down to NASDAQ stocks.
I actually scan for both long and short signals but only trade those signals
going in the direction of the overall market.

Since so many of you have posted strong evidence of a sharp decline in
the next week or two, whether based on Blue/Red Moons, Elliot wave
counts, divergences between indices and standard technical indicators,
etc., I'd like to ask the following:

I don't trade options or futures. I'm a stock daytrader. If one wanted to
short stocks when the market started selling off, which stocks do you
think are the best market surrogates? It used to be CCI and MER on the
NYSE, but I'd prefer to trade the NASDAQ. The internet stocks or the tech
stocks might sell off sharply, but in general, I'd like to find a couple
of market surrogates.

Any suggestions?
