RT's,
I'm not sure if the right brain establishes our emotional states of mind,
but if it does, I certainly do not want to change mine. I have found a way to
help myself before a big drawdown normally takes place. The drawdown still
occurs, but at a diminished amount. It seems when I am trading and everything
is running smoothly and I'm making new equity highs, my inner self is starting
to think about buying a fancy car or buying a bigger house, etc... Normally, I
have noticed that when "everything" is doing so well, I become lackluster in
my dedication towards my trading and all the happiness has NOW made my main
thoughts other than concentrating on risk management. I use to become sloppy
at placing protective stops, much more aggressive toward putting on many more
contracts.
When I now get "this" emotional state, instead of increasing contracts
size, I reduce. Instead of risking the norm, I cut back. It has been a very
powerful method to smooth out the ups and downs.
Also, what I feel helps my left brain, is turning it down a bit, which
means there are other activities in life other than trading, if one does not
have balance, one has burn out.
