In responce....
When visiting your local SOES you might ask if they have an alternative
order entry system (instinet), what news and internet hookups are available
(Block here used to offer NONE). Also talk to traders as to longevity of
new traders. How are quotes and order entry delivered (T1 etc.) and how
reliable--some connnections are rather unreliable. If they recommend trading
for 1/8ths, they are most likely interested in their commissions not your
success.
