As it is a rainy week-end and therefore no golf or garden to tend, I
thought that I would give the group something to pass the time. A
little puzzle to get your thoughts off of trading for a while and
refresh the mind. Ira
The animals went in two by two,
But some came out by scores.
for little ones born inside the Ark
came also through its doors.
The rabbits, the rats, the mice and cats
Had multiplied indeed.
Cooped up in the hulk for ten long months,
What else to do but breed?
For every two beasts that first went in,
there came out twenty-three:
An average, of course, for all the pairs
In that menagerie.
But some of the beasts, the elephants
And other mammals too,
Came out of the Ark as they’d gone in:
Still two by two by two.
The rest of the horde, a seething mob,
three hundred pairs all told,
Had bred in the Ark and so came forth
increased just fifteen-fold.
Imagine that scene on Ararat
for Noah and all his kin,
As the animals fanned across the land!
