Unless you are trading in institutional size there is no way to do spot
forex trading. The trading desks do not even like doing $10,000,000
dollar trades! Otherwise, the in/out bid/ask is huge, maybe 5-10%. There
might be shops doing otherwise, but I am not familiar of any low spread
odd lot type trading groups.
You can of course trade the currency futures on the CME/IMM. They are
fairly liquid and now with Globex2,there are stops at night (but they
are not terribly liquid at night). My experience though does show that
if you use technical analysis, do it on the spot market and then apply
your directional bias to the futures as overnight trading is more
important than the US time period in the currency market. You do need to
be aware of key levels though in the futures.
