A friend with no trading experience has received a brochure promoting a
computer program called TRAC IV from a company called Euro 800 who claim
50,000 users worldwide.
The system is a black box that gives stock buy and sell signals and the
brochure lists all trades (made on the London Stock Exchange) for the
eight month period from the end of September 97 to the end of May 98
which add up as follows:
Starting equity at end of Sept 97: BP 5,200
Ending equity at end of May 98: BP16,120
28 trades with 26 winners and 2 losers:
Largest winner BP1,611.90
Smallest winner 2.50
Average winner 420.63
Largest loser -12.30
Smallest loser -6.20
Average loser -9.25
The system costs BP3,900 (about US$6,250) and, as the vendor refuses to
give a free trial or introduce existing users, I have told my friend not
to buy it. I have told him that IMO the trading results are too few to be
meaningful especially as they occurred in a bull market but he is still
very interested.
Does anyone have experience of this product that I can pass on to him?
Thanks.
