As far as I can tell, this discussion about trading being a zero-sum
game is just a variant of Karl Marx's analysis of the contribution of
labor versus capital. Capital means nothing, so profits made from
activities that require capital intermediation are 'stolen' from labor.
When you put in the right words, you can make very intelligent people
believe it. The Russians were taken in for 75 years before realising
that the theory doesn't work in practice.
