GEN: Winzip or Pkunzip?

I'm at a point trying to learn how to download zipped files; then
unzipping them.  I don't know which path to now take.......skip
Pkunzip or skip Winzip?  Please, some direction from ex-
perienced users of both programs?  A dilema.....
