Please note that what follows is not an endorsement of the product. I have
no direct experience with it. However...
I have heard both great and not-so-great things about Excalibur, the
system-testing package developed by Futures Truth for their system-
reporting service and subsequently marketed by them. As the story
goes, it will let you test ANY entry or exit technique, stop-loss, or
money-management scheme you can think of. Nothing, reportedly,
is more versatile, and specifically not Omega's products. Last I heard,
the price was around $1500.
The downside is that Excalibur was written in C++, strictly for the
use of the guy who programmed it. So you pretty much have to know
C++ to use it effectively. As a result, or at least partly so, you can
forget about getting help from user's groups and the like. There just
aren't enough users to provide that kind of information flow. Offsetting
that, I understand the technical support department consists of the
programmer himself. He is supposed to be very helpful, to the extent
of sometimes writing a test routine for you.
Thus far, I have made do with SuperCharts and Metastock, neither
of which will do more than a small part of what I want. Microsoft
Access generates some of the other information I need, but not
nearly all of it. When the time comes to move to another level, I will
probably bite the bullet, learn C++, and go with Excalibur. (Almost
anything has to be better than dealing with Omega.)
Best of luck, and do let us know what you find.
