This old saying is more true for cyclical commodities or bonds, as it is a
simple way of saying that there will be seasonality, retracements and such.
But it should be updated for the S&P to "The market goes through every price
thrice." In the s&p, the price goes up through, retraces, then goes
through again and doesn't look back, (usually :-)
