Depending on your security or commodity, perhaps STOPs are your answer.
Trailing stops, that is.  A standing order to exit on a fall to a certain
level.  You move it up to 5-10% below current price as the game goes.

Otherwise I have a feeling that you take your profit without going broke
whenever you have a decent profit.  Wade Cook said a gain of 75 cents per
unit is fine.
