It is not a "small" part of their business. For Compuware, Y2K is an add-on (focusing on testing). VIAS has also had management problems in the past. <br><br>The Y2K industry has become fragmented with a lot of service providers jumping into the fray. Basically, just about any consulting company that can type Year2000 has joined in. This is diluting business for everyone. DDIM, another long-term Y2K player is trading around 13 but was as high as 55 or so last year.<br><br>But it is too late in the game for many businesses to repair all Y2K exposures. So many company's are taking the triage route. Rather than fixing all applications, they are getting rid of the unfixable and replacing these applications with off-the-shelf systems from companies like Peoplesoft, SAP, BANN, Walker, etc. But there really isn't enough time left to bring up complicated applications like these. So there will likely be some serious Y2K repercussions by mid-1999.<br><br>One thing that many lay people don't yet understand is that a lot of companies will start running into problems in 1999, not at 12/31/1999 since companies due a lot of forward planning. Many companies do projections 6 months to one year out.
