I would like to offer a different perspective. When someone writes
something that looks inane in the first sentence, my mouse starts
heading for the delete key, since i get well over 100 emails every day.
I do not have the time to read a long inane message, and will gladly
take the risk of missing soem hidden gem -- the odds are in my favor. I
find it disrespectful when someone wastes the attention of everyone on
this list. I would take particular umbrage at an inane-sounding response
to my own post, even if not intended as such.

I cherish quality, not just quantity. BTW, i have no problem with well
identified messages on Sugar flying by -- I am pretty quick on the
'delete' draw.
