I know several who take futures positions for many months. But they
still "trade" them.

That is to say, they determine where to put in trailing reverse stops. 

Your broker appears to be an investor...nothing wrong with that. I'm one
too. I own stock that I've had for over 10 years. But I don't earn a
living off a paycheck, as does your broker. 

Side note to Bryan Finnegan. I shall reply, taxes et al have just
consumed my time recently.
