Here are a few ideas.
Does your system take into account the trend of at least the next higher
time frame ?
Test to see if the signal you are using now would be better as a setup.
Here is what I mean.
Have the market confirm your signal via price action. If it does not you
do not take the trade.
For example. After the short signal wait for the low of 1 bar back to be
taken out (allowing for noise). This did not happen for quite a few bars
because the market continued to rally. If you are still on a short
signal despite the rally you would get short when the low of 1 bar back
was taken out. Hence you would not have been short until the rally had
finished.
Now your long signal. The high of 1 bar back was taken out the very next
bar - confirming your long signal.
This kind of entry filter repeats time and time again on all time
frames. It is also good for confirming price and time approaches as
well.
Depending on your timeframe ie. length of trades you like - the 1 bar
back filter can also work well as your initial stop level. Then move
your stop according to your rules as the trade moves in your favour.
Any thoughts from anyone else ?
