I download nightly from DD all 1500 S&P stocks + indexes + . The first thing
my stock screening program does is to check for unrecorded splits (30% +-
gap on average volume) and 10x volume (10 * average volume on less than 10%
change in high/low. Needless to say the program finds a number of errors
almost every night and flags the stocks not to be used. Around year-end I
sent DD a long list of unrecorded splits and a note asking why they didn't
implement the same kind of screening I use and never got an answer to the
question. I will say that they do eventually adjust my stocks for splits
automatically via my Omega downloader. Ditto for futures volume/openint.

Prior to using DD (about 18 months) I was a Telescan customer and my stock
screening program hit the same kinds of errors. Even more critical to me was
the lack of some very basic indexes which I require for my market work. For
example, I don't know how many times I asked TS to provide Nyse new highs
and lows and as late as a few weeks ago, when I rechecked their indexes,
they still don't carry it. I was never able to ascertain that TS handles
split adjustments automatically and I remember having to redownload futures
in order to get yesterday's volume/openint.

I'm spending around $60/month and I'm not a happy camper but there does not
seem to be one good supplier for everything. Neither Csi or Pinnacle carries
stocks although both seem to enjoy good reputations for futures. Worden
Brothers offers little of the way of raw index data and no futures although
the stock data appears to enjoy a good reputation. Some others seem to offer
cheap data but have no automatic mechanism for handling spits or the next
day's futures volume/openint.
