I've had similar problems with SC 3 and 4. Also with various builds of TS4.
My solution has been
to revert to SC2 and TS4 build 16. I've had no problems with these
particular programs, and nothing
but headaches with the newer versions. As for calling tech support I don't
bother as it's a waste
of time as far as I'm concerned.
