Hello RTers...
A week ago Kevine asked about any book on Point & Figure charting. I just
thought that maybe I should share some of the books (good ones) I have on my
shelf. I think if any of us has a nice book, he could share it with us, so we can
also take benefit from it. I'll start with some of my favorites.
Name: Commodity Trading System and Methods.
Author: P. J. Kaufman
Year: 1978
ISBN: 0-471-03569-6
WARNING: This book is NOT for mathematically/statistically challenged.
This is a comprehensive book on trading techniques. Kaufman has covered
topics like moving averages, trends, cycles and secular trends, advanced
charting (bar, P&F), chart based trading system (Dunnigan's Thrust Method,
Nofri's Congestion-Phase System, Keltner's Minor-Trend Rule etc.),
behavioral techniques (measuring news, contrary opinion, Elliot Wave, Gann's
Time and Space etc.), day trading techniques, practical consideration, system
management. He has included several statistical computer programs, charts
and table.
Name: Japanese Candlesticks Charting Techniques
Author: Steve Nison
A good account of candlestick charting. It consists of 20 chapters including
historic background, basic stuff like constructing candlesticks and pattern,
advanced topics like using candlesticks with trendlines, moving averages,
retracement levels, oscillators, volume, open interest, Elliot Wave and options
and hedging with candlesticks. Nison also provides some self traded
examples.
Its a good, simple book for someone who want to take a peek inside Japanese
candlesticks charting.
Name: Futures & Options
Author: Franklin R. Edwards & Cindy W. Ma
Year: 1992
ISBN: 0-07-019441-6
I learned most of my futures basics from this excellent book. It is through yet
to the point text starting from the very basics of futures to more advanced
topics like devising hedging strategies and speculating with futures and
options.
This book covers almost every aspect of futures industry including mechanics
of futures and options, the clearinghouses, futures pricing system, social
benefits of futures industry and regulation of futures markets. Later chapters
cover stock index futures, stock market crash of 1987, short and long term
interest rate futures, foreign currency futures and commodities. A concise
study of trading methods and strategies is also included. For traders interested
in options, three chapters are dedicated to option fundamentals, pricing and
trading options. Each chapter ends with self test questions and summary.
End of Part 1....
