With today expected to be a gonzo whipsaw day, I thought you might like to
see how the pivots work under these conditions. I would not expect them to
work very well. Let's see. In looking at the INDU chart note how it went
into a downtrend such that its Thursday close was near the keyline for
Friday. After looking at these for a few weeks it appears that the big
guys are running a one day look-a-head prior to the close to see where the
next day's Keyline is and then either selling or buying the market to bring
it into that vicinity. Likewise on indeterminate days the mkt will drift
about the keyline before taking off to R1 or S1. On gap up or down days
the index jumps to R1 or S1 before off floor types have a chance to
position themselves in options. The first hour has been referred to as
"amature" hour. Sometimes it is best to let the market show its hand
before playing your own.
