I have seen information that suggests that IRA funds can be traded
from within a Commodity Pool. The idea being that one sets up an
Exempt Commodity Pool (less than $200,000 and 15 investors or less)
with only their IRA funds and personally manages the Pool.
I am not sure how this is accomplished and would appreciate any
information that other more knowledgable members of this list might
be able to provide.
Exempt Commodity Pool Operators have no reporting requirements but
must send a statement to the NFA and CFTC stating that they will not
be registering as a CPO because they will only be managing and Exempt
Commodity Pool.

| Hi Richard,
|
| You might try stock or index options (OEX, SPX),
but you
| will have to shop for a broker that will allow you to trade them in
your IRA.
| (Schwab will allow covered call writing in an IRA but nothing
else). I do
| not beleive there is anything "illegal" about having options (or
even
| futures) in an IRA, just brokers trying to protect the uninformed
masses
| from themselves (not to mention protecting their owne collective
asses). If
| you find a broker that will allow trading in an IRA let me know, or
post it
| here.
|
| Good luck
and good
| trading,
