IRT linnsoft works like a champ on vista and I have not had the problems
you all have had. There is a setting you must change to allow XP software to
work , These are the instructions they provided on their site to get IRT to
work with vista though their new version work with out this modification .
I do not really read the instructions for most stuff.
I would be curious to know if it does help. If this is all common knowledge
and that annoys someone ,,oh well, be that as it may,
I do not seem to have these or any problems with Vista. Maybe I should knock
on wood. IRT is very fine software by the way. but see that for yourself
a.. Open Windows Explorer and find the folder in which Investor/RT was
installed. Default location is:
C:\Program Files\InvestRT
a.. Right click the InvestRT.exe executable file and choose "Properties"
from the popup menu
a.. Select the "Compatibility" tab
a.. Check the "Run This Program in Compatibility Mode for" option.
a.. From the drop-down list, choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" (see
below)
a.. At the bottom, check "Run this program as an administrator" (see below)
a.. Click OK

I just bought a new Dell Vostro, Windows XP, Quad core from Dell. After
spending countless hours on their support service I still cannot get eTRADE
Pro to Stream real time data.
It works great on another XP and Vista pc. No one has been able to fix
this. Java, Flash, Security settings, etc.
It seems ridiculous to me to buy a pc an not have simple things work.
What a hyped technological age we live in.
I guess I needed to vent because it still doesn't work.

No I'm using Esignal. The esignal data manager shows to
be ok and
works for a quote. I have another computer that is hooked
to Esignal
and MC and it is working fine. It has Vista ? this one has
Vista
Business.
Crazy,
Jimmy
Hello Jimmy, if your using IB for data with MC then I
remember I had
the same problem (using XP) on a couple of Sunday's -
it turned out to
be IB's servers which are probably GAS powered and
required markets
open with some volume going through to push the start up -
when they
start its fine. Also 'sometimes' IB makes instant
changes to the
middleware and fail to communicate the impact of those
changes....
I have to agree with you about MC, its a great product.
The one I'm
using now as I've been doing more currencies is
MetaTrader4 which is
simple and intuitive - one click to enter/exit a basket(16)
crosses,
easily programmable. Graph net p&l, auto
exits/entries, one click exit
for single crosses, hold shorts and longs same cross same
time, etc..
