according to Solidus (TSW contributor who says to say "Hi" to all his old

I hadn't heard that but it makes some sense.
I use the backups to transfer everything to a different machine but always
the same build - very handy.
But I have never tried to open an old back-up on a new build.

TradeStaion technical support is recommending not upgrading to new builds
but installing fresh as you do. However, before upgrading they recommend
doing a TradeStation backup and then installing the backup into the fresh
new build. They say doing that will result in nothing from the previous
build being lost and remove a potentially corrupting step in the upgrading
process. I've repeatedly asked them if a backup from a previous build
will work on a later one. They've repeatedly told me it will. I've yet
to try it. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the matter.
