There's also political pressure being brought to bear by the cable
companies, who don't want competition from a superior product.
In my area, the cable company had to respond to FiOS Internet service with
an increased data rate (still no match for FiOS) and a price reduction. They
then opposed the rollout of FiOS TV, which just became a reality in my
community. Citizen pressure helped to make the TV rollout a reality.
Competition is good for consumers.

(Pennsylvania)....largest metro area as well...
promised for roll-out in June 2006,
Postponed till Jan 2008 due to "political" issues related to who gets it
first, etc.
And which politicians get the credit for the roll-out, etc.
So, no, the above is not true.
