Re[6]: TS4 runs much better on a P3

TS2ki does fine on a fairly fast single core processor if you just look at it. You can run other programs like a broker trading program or email but don't try to copy a DVD video. You get stuck in the trade and nothing will work. Lots of fun. Next thing you know you are on hold waiting for your broker to bail you out.

I recently upgraded to an AMD dual core chip for my non-trading box
and am experimenting with it with the backup 2000i I keep installed
there. Be interesting to see how much better it might do with it than
the Athlon XP 3200+ on my trading machine.

I appreciate your point about doing one thing at a time. I find that
it runs fine on the older single core chip as long as I do
optimizations and other tasks outside of trading hours. I try to open
all my charts during non-market hours, too. CPU usage normally
fluctuates between 10 and 25% during market hours, but spikes to 100%
if I open new charts or do anything else significant.

I'm thinking not to bother with upgrading my trading box to dual core,
as it seems to do fine running only TS 2000i and a couple of broker
screens.

In the task manager you can mess with settings but you will find they don't stick if you reboot or turn tS2ki off then on and they also don't make any difference in performance. TS2ki will run fine until you want to optimize or mess with data and never try to do both at the same time. Actually the key to TS2ki is never do more than one thing at a time.
