You may want to save those.  They are created when upgrades or updates
or whatever MS calls all that stuff to patch XP.  You would need them
if you need to remove say SP2 or some other service pack or some
smaller fix.  Some fixes can't be reversed but all these can.

If I needed space though I would blow them away.

Are these temp files from XP updates? IE can they be deleted?
  
Also, back with W98 I used to regularly delete all *.tmp & *.cab
files. Is this still ok to do with XP (&W2000)?
