I just started w/ TS 8.1 about a week ago, and for the
most part I am happy with the platform.
Iv'e had some problems working with Data2 streams
though. Specifically, when I create a chart with
symbol @ES as Data1 (the S&P mini continuous contract)
and then try to add @US as Data2 (the CBOT 30 yr. T
Bond continuous contract) it gives me the following
error message -
"You may not mix symbols with different delays in the
same window"
I called TS support, and was told the reason for this
(even though I'm trying to bring up a simple daily
chart for both symbols) is that I am paying for real
time CME S&P e-mini data, but I am not paying for real
time CBOT data (which costs $50 mo.)
Apparantly, working "offline" doesn't solve the issue
either.
Trying to find a work-around, I loaded sym $TYX.X (30
yr Bond INDEX) as Data2, and got the same error
message.
I then tried sym. $DJCBTI as Data2 (Dow Jones CBOT
Treas. Index) and voila! it loaded into the chart. But
strange things happened to Data1 (@ES) and the simple
system I had applied Data1. Specifically, Data1 was
blank where 2/27/06 should have been, and where other
trading days should have been, and the simple test
strategy that I had coded to buy on the open and exit
on the close of a particular day of the week was now
showing trades on every day of the week.
Backtesting a simple system that references a Data2
stream is simple bread and butter type stuff for TS,
and I'm amazed that I'm running into these issues.
Anyone have an idea that could save me $50 mo. for
real time CBOT data that I don't really need? If I
bring in 3rd party data for use as Data2 will I have
the same issues?
Thanks for any help.
