I don't know any way to completely shuf off the alert window. However,
there is a way to keep it from showing up AFTER the first time a specific alert
is triggered. All you need to do is click anyplace on your screen OTHER than
on the alert window, If you do this, the alert window will 'submerge' and
will no longer show up when another alert on that particular condition is hit.
However, when a NEW condition for which an alert is set is triggered, then
the alert window will again surface. :)
