THANKS TO ALL!!!!
Clearing the TEMP folders did not enable the upgrades to occur for me.
DELETING THE "SETUP.ini" files after searching for them did allow me to
upgrade through SP5.
Maybe *_both_* needed to be performed? I did end up doing both in the
above order.
Again, thanks to all who helped me resolve this and get up running again.

try this
"If you receive an error message whilst installing any upgrades
("decompression of %s" something or other), you will have to remove all the
contents from the C:\Windows\Temp directory and then try again. If you still
get this message, search for "Setup.ini" after the first setup window ,[the
file should be in a tempdirectory] on the C drive and delete it. This
solution I found on the Omega website under trouble shooting for installing
upgrades. "
