TS 4 and XP - crashing

Hello list.
I am running TS 4.0 (not real time) under XP  Service  Pack 2.

Relatively quickly after running TS 4.0 (although sometimes I can run 
for an hour or so) the pc crashes.

I am pretty sure it's a windows problem, but TS seems to activate the 
crashing quickly.

I also have TS 8.X. Does it yet support data external files?
