The following document will save you a lot of headaches when installing an
Old Drive into a new System. Save this document as you will use it again.
The name of the driver installed on your old system may be different from
the one in the doc. The main thing is to delete the old one and Install the
one called "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller."

Good Luck. It Works.

PROBLEM: Getting Blue Screen on Boot Up After Using Old HardDrive in New
System.

When installing an old system drive (Windows 2000 or Windows XP) into a New
Computer and you get a Blue Screen just as Windows is starting to load.

Reason: The new advanced Chipset does not recognize the IDE Controller
Driver installed on the old drive.

Correction: You have to update the IDE Controller driver while it is still
mounted into the Old Computer.

Follow these Steps.

Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Device
Manager, Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, Click on and Highlight Intel®
82371AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller, Right Click and Click on
Properties, Select the Driver Tab, Click On Update Driver, Click Next, Check
Radial "Display a list of the known drivers for this device . . ., Click
Next, Select "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller, Click Next, Click
Next, Click Finish, Select to Restart the Computer so the New Driver will be
installed into the system. After the computer comes up Shut it Down and
Disconnect the Drive and Install it in the New Computer (Use IDE 1 Slot) DO
NOT USE one of the RAID Controller Slots. Boot the system and if you want
to use it in a Slot Controlled by the RAID Controller install the Drivers
Manually for the RAID Controller. While the Drive is in the IDE 1 Slot it
is best to load all the Drivers you will need to operate the System. After
all the drivers are loaded Reboot the system and once you have a clean boot
shut the system down and install the Drive using a Slot for the RAID
Controller. Upon Boot Up the New Hardware Found Wizard will have you reload
the RAID Controller. Follow the instructions in the new MotherBoard Manual
for loading the Drivers.

This looks like a lot but it is quite simple once you get into it. I would
suggest making a Ghost copy using Ghost 2003 or later so you have an exact
copy of your drive before you start. I had no problem at all with my EPOX
EP-8K9A3+ board. This is a lot easier than starting from scratch.
