>From TradeStation, click into the File menu and select new.
Click into the Omega Research tab and select TradeStation
chart and click OK.
This opens the Create New Chart window. To open an ASCII
file, ensure that in
the Show section at the top of this window, you have clicked
on 3rd Party Directory.
If you have already scanned your computer for ASCII data,
you can click on the
down arrow to the right of the file name field and select
the correct file to open.
If you have not already scanned your computer for ASCII
data, you should click the
New Dir. button.
This opens the New Directory window. The easiest method
here is to let your computer
locate all the necessary files. Select ASCII as your Data
Type and click on the scan
button. You will open another popup window where you should
type in the letter
corresponding to the drive on your computer, that the data
is located.
Once the scan is complete, you will be taken back to the
Create New Chart window and
you will now be able to use the down arrow to the right of
the file name to scroll down and
select the relevant file to open.
Please note, to the right of the Symbol field, you have a
toggle button where you can
choose to display the Symbol or Description.
Select the file that you wish to open and then click on
Plot. This opens a new pop
up window called Data Settings. Here you will be able to
tell TradeStation what the
Field Order is and the Date format. Once these have been
selected, click OK.
If you do not know the field order or the date format, then
please open the file in
Excel to establish these details.
For the correct format of ASCII data, look for a
TradeStation help file called
ASCII File Guidelines. This sets out the very specific
format that TradeStation
requires.
Hope this helps.
