Jon,
Windows of any type really doesn't defrag your data. When you copy
your PDS folder for safety then export, delete data then import it
back it cleans out errors and defrags it much better than any program
can. Maybe not perfect but pretty good. The errors are the serious
part. The absolute best way to do this is to export all your symbols,
delete... import but there are constraints as to how large a file you
can export then import. That is the reason for the copy of the PDS
and better yet server folder. If you get messed up then you simply
delete the one you are working on and copy the copy back. Each
computer is different and each persons data is different so the size
of the data you export varies. The last really large export I did was
for many symbols at a time but finished .xpo file of about 400,000kp.
This worked for me but might not for someone else's data. I never
defrag my hard drive anymore. It doesn't seem to make much of a
difference and certainly doesn't help. Internet feeds seem to work
much better with TS2ki than DTN satellite. DTN sat is a real problem
as far as errors go. TS2ki really wasn't built for any feed but
internet. I can't speak for the newer programs like Dynastore or
Hyperserver. They may work as well or better than say Esignal's
internet feed but my guess is all of them work better than DTN
Satellite. I have nothing against DTN. I've used them more than once
and for many years. It is just that TS2ki isn't built for it. Or not
built well for it.
