A linux based email frontend is ok, but I need something on windoze as well.
Trying to put linux on wife's laptop would be.. well.. suicidal. Also, I try
not to mess with the linux machine too much. It just sits in a corner,
running mail, firewall, file & print services and such. And of course, ts2ki
won't run on linux 8 )
Then use the linux machine to obtain any (and all) email from your
ISPs, Hotmail, etc. "Fetchmail" and similar programs are very
capable. Linux boxes can supply POP3 and IMAP connections interior of
the firewall. There have been several Howto articles in magazines and
websites, plus there are inherent Howto documents within Linux for
most popular services. If you get that working, you can add in the
various email filters to remove known bad apples from the incoming
spew. Email started on unix, and there is nothing that cannot be done
with it after some 25 years of service and tinkering.
Your wife will notice how "fast" her email has become (since it is
over the local lan) and that is a good effect.
Hmm, I've been very lucky with wine lately, I suppose giving ts2ki a
spin would be an interesting experiement....
