Appian Jeronimo under XP, help

These cards appearing on eBay now for $100 or less.  Hard to resist.  
But found TS4 wouldn't run under XP anymore while the Jeronimo was
installed.  An error message occurs "NTVDM.EXE has encountered
a problem and needs to close"  

I understand this executable has something to do with 16 bit programs,
but TS 4 has been working fine under XP until I installed the Jeronimo.

Any ideas?
