Question: Lost stock certificate

Hello List,

In 1985, as a teenager, I purchased 1000 shares of a
stock. My parents held the certificate / transaction
records for me.

The stock is now trading significantly higher than
when I bought it, but mom and dad are unable to find
the original documentation (and being an irresponsible
teen, I didn't keep my own records).

Does any one out there know of a means by which I can
track down proof of a stock purchase? Or a company
that deals with this?
