I traded cash (went over 50 for a day) and futures silver in the late 70's
and early 80's...checking some of my old trade tickets, jack's memory
appears to be correct :)

Having been involved with silver trading in the 70's and 80's, I can tell
you that the 1980 high spot settlement for Comex silver was 48.70.
