Re: TS7 behind the firewall

What type of Firewall do you have. I have a Sonic firewall which in an
actual piece of hardware ( as opposed to software firewalls) which goes
between my DSL modem and my router. When I wen to TS7 I read where it said
to open up certain ports. I did open the ports that they said were needed,
but it seemed to work fine before I opened them.

The only time when I had to really play around with the ports was when I
was playing around with Net2phone, and PCAnywhere. Also I usually keep ping
disabled unless some network testing needs to be done.

Why do you say that certain ports can't be opened? Is it due to the
construction of the firewall, you're not sure how, or that you're running
from some corporate network and "it's not their job".

I think that I (or someone else on this group) probably could help you if
it's one of the first 2. The third one isn't so much a firewall issue as a
corporate policy, personnel issue. Of course this can be worked around
using straight dial-up, which is slower and you can get hacked and get
viruses through a dial up just as easily as you can with a high speed
interface.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Steve

Are there any solutions for TS7 to operate behind the
firewall. Certain ports are closed and can't be open
so that neither TS7 nor IB can be connected to.
