Pinnacle advertises that it's clean. I haven't seen anything wrong with
it yet.

Why would you want to? As an EOD researcher I never used GS for
anything, nor do I see why it's necessary. I need it for intraday
stuff, that's all. I understand TS never had anything like GS
before the internet became popular, either.

Setting up a workspace to use an ASCII data file is no different
from using data from GS. I have a scheduled task to start the
Pinnacle update every weekday afternoon, and it works completely
transparently to me. Even if you skip some days, it fills in
everything nicely. I especially like that you can also maintain
two sets of data, one ratio-adjusted and one back-adjusted.
The back-adjusted data should be used for trading, while the
ratio-adjusted data works best for analysis over long histories
(especially on weekly or monthly compression) because it never goes
negative. I find it makes a good substitute for a cash index too.
