This is a constant risk when you expose your email to discussion
groups. Your email address finds its way to spammers via unprotected
MS Outlook email clients of other list subscribers. Usually you start
to get direct emails from spammers and viruses from other list users
who are unaware that their computers have been compromised.

1) Don't use Outlook. Use Eudora, or better, The Bat! If you are an
Outlook die-hard, learn how to make it safe.

2) Keep Norton Updated; it will take care of the viruses

3) Install Kerio Personal Firewall and SpyBot; they will catch all the trojan
horses and spyware you may have inadvertently installed by double-clicking on those
strange email attachments. I can't overstate how important it is to
know exactly where and why your computer is trying to connect to some
location on the internet.

4) Never, ever use your main email address for anything. Only use aliases. So
if your address gets compromised, you can change it on the
fly, without closing/opening a new account.

There are list users who are active in several trading-related Yahoo
Groups. They may be using different email addresses, but most likely
they are using the same email client on the same machine. Anyone can
start a Yahoo group and many of the moderators and list subscribers are quite immature and
have conflicts of interest. Getting viruses like bugbear are routine.
Sometimes the moderators won't like your post, and
not post it in their group. Shortly after that, you begin to get
spammed.
