John:
Are you running a flat panel display?
Is your flat panel dual mode analog-digital?
Is your video card digital?
If you are running a flat panel with an ANALOG card, the problem
is generally in the plat panel control logic momory. Once the
flat panel heats up (takes a few hours) the memory in the flat
panel has a heat failure and looses synch. The analog card
cannot resynch unless you reboot. This is your 'fix'.
How to solve it:
(1) no cost:
Can your flat panel re-synch or auto-set-up?
If so, try it.
(2) cheep:
Check the cooling on your flat panel.
Can it be improved?
If so, the fuzzy dots will go away.
(3) expensive:
Buy an all digital card.
(4) funny:
strap ice cubes on the back of your monitor.
