ts4 not making alert sounds

Recently I switched a ts4 from one box to another; since doing so it does
not make sounds for system/tool alerts. The boxes pop up, but no sounds. The
switch consisted of first installing the software, then copying my old box's
omega directory onto the new one. Both are win 2k. All works fine except the
sound problem. I checked the ini files; nothing. Other sounds on the box are
fine. All the right sound files are active...I'm stumped.

Any ideas?
