I guess it's because trading volumes have dropped off so much.  Also, I
think they only get about 30% of the revenues they bring in.  The rest goes
into the Treasury and Congress gets to spend it.  So Congress wouldn't be
too disappointed if they "bring in" too much of our $$$.

For the past two years the SEC fees have been changed on the first day of
the second quarter which just happens to be April 1.  Last year, the fees
were changed from $15.00 to $30.10 per million sold and this year a change
was made to make the fees $46.80 per million.  What ever happened to the
reduction from $33.33 to $15.00 per million that occurred the end of
December 2001 because they were making too much money?
