OT: hotel receommendation for SFO

I'm sending someone to SFO for the weekend. They wish to be near "The
Marina" district, somewhat away from the anti-war demonstration-areas. Any
suggestions for hotels. When I look at hotels.com, who knows what's "good."
I'd appreciate any comments from locals.
