Subject: symbol descriptions on the Interent?

I'm able to get a string from finance.yahoo.com given a symbol, but not the
stock's name or a description of the symbol if it's an option. For example,
sending "something" (see http://www.highlandmedia.com/vb/hmstocks/ ) to
yahoo returns a string:
"IBM",75.70,"3/10/2003","4:02pm",-2.20,77.45,77.45,75.50,6565300

Any suggestions where I can get a stock's name or a description of the
symbol if it's an option would be appreciated. Another approach is to add a
table (to my db) that contains this info as it's fairly static. Can anyone
suggest a (free) db of syms etc.?

Thanks in advance
