Yep, I've got a comment and a question for anyone.
Around 10:15am Eastern Time today (3/7/03) I had a very strange
occurrence.
Volume was clearly very high on the E-Mini at the time. Not sure if was
Blix or the Bin Laden's son's news, but the volume was very high for
several minutes.
My data started to slow (esignal cable feed). My charts that were
"timed", one, three and five minute etc. seemed to be keeping up, but
the bid/ask quotes (small Radar screen window) were clearly lagging by a
good 10 seconds.
Then I noticed that although the minute charts were leaping around, my
tic charts were terribly far behind. It wasn't until 2 minutes had past
that my tic charts finally caught up to the minute charts. Very
disconcerting.
On a separate computer I had my trading platform, PFG that gives quotes
from a feed other than esignal so I know the minute charts were doing a
good job of staying current, but I just sat stunned watching those tic
charts. Now I have a pentium 4, 1.7 GHz with 1 gig of ram on Windows XP
Pro running TS 2000i. I've never seen this before, and have always
thought my machine was fast enough to keep that globalserver happy.
Maybe I'm wrong. Usually I have nothing else running on my TS machine,
but I did have MS Outlook and Pal Talk open too.
I immediately closed down all the other programs, and on TS kept only
one workspace open, but the tic charts were still quite far behind.
So, what do we think? I keep my machine "clean" and running as fast as I
can, fixing errors, cleaning the registry, and defragging regularly.
What happened? Any comments or suggested solutions appreciated.
Peter

Anyone still using BMI for nasdaq stocks?
Already quite a while the T/S data seems totally off.
Missing trades, wrong prices, wrong size.
The bid/ask quotes seem to be OK, although everything is quite slow.
I am on cable and the delay seems to be about 10 secs.
Any comments?
