Not correct. XP Home and XP Pro are the same base operating system. Pro
has some more little applets and has a few more features enabled.
Microsoft marketing tries to differentiate them by telling 98/ME users that
they should upgrade to XP Home, but they are the same base operating system
and that base is the NT/2000 base.

Sorry Kent, that is not correct. Someone or something has misinformed you.
XP Pro is the NT-W2K successor, not XP. XP is the end of the line for that
version of Windows.
MS has stated this in public, include Bill Gates himself in a recent Charlie
Rose interview on public television.
FYI I beta test for Microsoft, and I have XP Pro. I use W2K SP3 instead
because it has fewer bugs, and unlike XP and XP Pro, it does not require me
to contact MS whenever I want to gut my PC and build a new one.

XP is not a successor in the 95 line. XP is the latest iteration of the NT
line which goes NT-2000-XP.
