They always make these kinds of threats. It's actually a test. Just like a dog that growls
at you while showing his teeth.
You can talk reason to him, ignore him, talk to his owner, hire a dog
psychologist, bribe him with a bone, but he still growls at you. He is simply asking you, "Are you top dog?"
So you tackle it on the ground and he's
laying on his back. Look at him straight in the eye while applying
gentle pressure on his stomach. He'll look the other way and remain
quiet and limp. And from there on he will respect you, until he will test you again.
The neighbors, especially the dogs owner, is pissed at you for being
so mean to a poor little "innocent" dog. But now
the dog likes you. Not only that, the other dogs take notice.
